Compliance

Mitria is built with campaign communication regulations in mind. Here is how the platform helps you stay compliant.

Political campaigns operate under a complex web of federal, state, and local regulations governing communications, data handling, and fundraising. Mitria provides built-in guardrails to help campaigns manage compliance risk, but the platform does not constitute legal advice.

Campaigns should consult with qualified legal counsel to ensure their operations comply with all applicable laws.

SMS and Telephone Compliance (TCPA)

  • Automatic detection and processing of opt-out requests across common variants (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, etc.).
  • Opt-out confirmations sent automatically when a recipient requests removal.
  • Message frequency controls to prevent over-contact.
  • Consent tracking tied to each contact record.
  • Quiet hours enforcement to restrict messaging outside permitted windows.

Email Compliance (CAN-SPAM)

  • Required unsubscribe links included in all outbound campaign emails.
  • Unsubscribe requests processed within the legally required timeframe.
  • Sender identification and physical address included in email footers.
  • Suppression list management to prevent re-contacting opted-out recipients.

Campaign Finance Awareness

  • Mitria does not process donations or financial transactions directly.
  • The platform can integrate with your existing fundraising tools to surface donor intelligence and prioritize outreach.
  • All campaign finance compliance obligations — including disclosure, contribution limits, and reporting — remain the responsibility of the campaign and its treasurer.
  • We recommend consulting with campaign finance counsel for jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Data Privacy and Voter Data

  • Voter data uploaded to Mitria is stored with campaign-level isolation. No data is shared between campaigns.
  • Processing of voter data follows applicable state voter file regulations.
  • Data retention policies ensure that voter information is not kept beyond the agreed-upon period.
  • Campaigns can export or delete their data at any time.

Content Safeguards

  • Messages flagged as potentially non-compliant are routed for human review before sending.
  • Automatic escalation of press inquiries, legal threats, and sensitive topics.
  • Approval workflows for message classes that carry higher regulatory risk.
  • Audit trail for all outbound communications, including who approved and when.
